Grounding or Earthing has been a game changer for me on my health journey. After watching the Earthing movie, I thought, “How am I just now learning about this?”
Grounding is completely free, always accessible and can change your day in a matter of minutes.
What is Grounding or Earthing?
It’s walking around, outside – barefoot. On the grass, dirt, sand, or gravel.
Essentially, we are allowing our bodies to reconnect with the earth’s natural surface charge, which restores our body’s natural electromagnetic state. Grounding restores and recharges our bodies.
Grounding Benefits
One of the main health benefits of grounding is decreasing our body’s inflammation. Inflammation is linked to many chronic illnesses, including heart disease, type II diabetes, cancer, arthritis, asthma, allergies, eczema, chronic pain, irritable bowel, Crohn’s disease. So many people I know and patients I see while working at the hospital are suffering from these conditions.
What if something as simple as going outside and grounding every day could have a positive impact on their health?
Grounding can also help decrease stress, improve, sleep, and increase energy levels. With two little ones at home, I need all the help I can get when it comes to sleep, stress, and energy!
After learning about grounding, I immediately started trying it out. I was pleasantly surprised at the way just sitting outside with the sun shining on my face could instantly bring me a sense of peace and elevate my mood. I found myself wanting to get outside as much as possible. I went from being the mom that told her kids to “put their shoes on before going outside” to telling them “shoes off when you’re outside”.
I have found myself on my lunch break at the hospital sitting outside. I found a couple of the outside tables had a patch of grass underneath them. I started taking one shoe and sock off and now ground on my lunch break. I cannot even describe how much this has helped me deal with the stress that I’m feeling from the busy hustle that comes along with a 12-hour nursing shift at the hospital. Grounding allows me to let go of the stress and recharge. When I get back to my patients, I truly feel like they are getting the present, best version of myself. In case you’re wondering, yes, I do occasionally get some funny looks, but I don’t mind. It’s totally worth it in my book. Healing and taking care of myself is everything.
I have had a couple people ask me why I have a shoe off on my lunch break. I love telling people about grounding. I find that a lot of people are truly interested, and I’ve only ever gotten positive feedback. I hope I can inspire you to get outside and start your journey with grounding.
