What do your mornings feel like? Do they flow or feel a little out of order?
For me getting up early before my kids and having time to myself is a way to honor myself daily.
Starting my day off by waking up to an alarm of soothing ocean waves, I hydrate myself with a full glass of water which I keep on my nightstand every night. From there, I get out of bed and go straight into my meditation practice.
Waking up and Brain Waves
When we are in deep sleep our brain is producing Delta waves. As we are waking up our brain switches to theta waves, it is more like a daydream state. From theta, our brain starts to produce alpha waves. This is when you are awake, but still feel very relaxed. For me, this time when my brain is in between theta and alpha waves, gives me a space when my mind feels clear and open. I have often been guided by the ideas that drop in and the clarity that comes during this time.
As a busy mom of two little ones, I try to be as efficient as I can with my time in the morning. I have been using red-light therapy for 20 minutes during my meditation time. Red light therapy has many benefits. I like to use it for my skin health. It’s a natural way to increase collagen production. It can decrease inflammation, balance hormones, and help with muscle recovery. Red light therapy also helps with your circadian rhythm. Which can help you fall asleep and wake up at around the same time every day.
A Morning Routine and a Healthy Lifestyle
The last part of my morning routine usually doesn’t happen until after the kids are up and have had breakfast. This last step is a vital one. It’s 20 minutes of grounding in the sunshine. My morning routine has helped me through a lot of ups and downs. Sometimes my kids are sick and I feel exhausted or run down. On these days, what feels most loving is to sleep in and get some extra rest. I know my morning routine will help guide me back into a healthy lifestyle. As always, sending you lots of love and healing.
